Bill Lusk was born in Tampa, Florida on August 19, 1955 and relocated to Signal Mountain in 1968 with his parents, Dr. & Mrs. Edward W. Lusk and sisters, Glenna and Rebecca. Bill was blessed with parents who gave him a strong foundation in faith, in morals, in values and a strong work ethic. Raised in the Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, Bill was active throughout his early years in the Boy Scouts and in the Church. Bill graduated in the Class of 1973 from Red Bank High School and was educated in economics at Emory University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Bill and his wife Sandy and their eight year old son, Kyle, reside in Signal Mountain, Tennessee. His daughter Anna resides in Cleveland, Tennessee and is a student at Cleveland State Community College.

After college in June of 1978, Bill joined Southwest Motor Freight and worked his way through the ranks from a driver to Vice President of Sales and Marketing by 1985. In September of 1987, Bill rejoined his former colleagues from Southwest at U.S. Xpress, Inc. as Executive Vice President and helped to grow this company from $11 million dollars in revenue in 1987 to over $1 billion dollars as of his move to semi-retirement in February of 2005. Responsible primarily in building the company's sales and marketing program, Bill was active in the company's initial and secondary public offerings and was a member of the board of directors from 1994 through mid 2000. From January of 2001 through January of 2005 Bill was president of the company's Xpress Global Systems subsidiary.

Bill and his family enjoy collecting and restoring antiques, spending time outdoors, cooking family meals and spending quality time at home. They are active in the Unitarian Church and support many causes such as the Orange Grove Center, Siskin Children's Institute, Public Broadcasting, the Humane Society, Allied Arts, the Houston Museum, C.S.O, the Tennessee Aquarium, Ducks Unlimited and Sled Dog Rescue.
